Opening article of the Republican newspaper
October 26, 1954
This is the chapter of women, a portal we hope people would enter with humility and reverence. This is because it addresses a matter that is the most critical of all earthly concerns: women. Women are to the world what the heart is to the body. If the heart is healthy, the entire body is healthy, but if it is corrupted, the entire body is corrupted.
In a truly civilized social system, women deserve more care and attention than men, if there is indeed a priority between them. This is because men are influenced by women more than they influence them, despite their delusions to the contrary. When a woman understands the paths of virtue, she raises a man as a child to follow her example, guides him as a husband, and inspires him in all walks of life, even when he is a stranger to her.
When Eve tempted Adam, he succumbed, failing to resist. She tempted him with the desire for good, but her ignorance became a curse for both of them. Adam could not resist her temptation because she was the messenger of life, calling to it persistently, as if every part of her body were a tongue urging him on. Adam, and all humanity, are seekers of life, and those who do not respond to life respond to nothing.
If Eve had known the true path of life, her call to Adam would have been a call to righteousness, free from temptation and disobedience. If our women were educated, our men would be guided. Teaching a woman is teaching a nation.. teaching a man is teaching an individual. Mahmoud Mohamed Taha
